I feel like I have never been able to adequately explain to you all just what debrief is, so as I am in the midst of a debrief right now I thought it would be fun to do a “day in the life” blog! I must preface this by saying that every day of debrief is slightly different so this isn’t a comprehensive look. I hope you enjoy this little peek into life on the race!
8:31 am Woke up and was informed that I screamed in my sleep last night
8:33 am Had breakfast at the hostel (bread, jam, cereal, a banana, and coffee)
9:00 am Went to a coffee shop with Daniel, Kam, Emmy, and Katie to study the word
9:48 am Head back to the hostel for morning session
10:08 am Worship starts lead by Andre, Kim, and Jo
10:32 am Carmen leads a devotion about how the Lord takes us from Glory to Glory
11:05 am Erika begins her session about gearing up to go home
11:30 am Five minute break
11:40 am Dan and Erika lead us through the Dream and Value Inventory *This activity is designed to help us discover what values we truly live by and how they impact our dreams for the future. Highly recommend!*
1:00 pm Head out to lunch with my fellow storytellers *Our job is to encourage and monitor blogging within our teams. Blogging is ministry!*
2:53 pm Get back to the hostel for “man/woman time”
3:15 pm Leave for double decker bus tour
3:23 pm Find adorable puppy while waiting for buses
3:30 pm Arrive at buses
3:47 pm Get off buses to get sno-cones from a side-of-the-road vendor
3:56 pm Bus tour begins
5:10 pm Stop for traditional Coca leave ceremony
5:20 pm Buy popular snack of corn and cheese
5:38 pm Get off the bus to take pictures with alpacas
5:41 pm Ditched the alpacas to cuddle a cute street dog
5:47 pm Whole bus breaks out into song (Vanessa Carlton’s “1,000 Miles”)
5:50 pm stop to see Blanco Christo (a huge statue of Jesus that overlooks Cusco)
6:03 pm Back on the bus
6:19 pm Bus tour/woman time ends
6:32 pm Headed to a cafe for dinner with Andre, Emmy, Jo, Madi, and Diane
7:41 pm Walked back to the hostel
7:50 pm Got in the shower
8:03 pm Got out of the shower
8:22 pm Went to common room to journal/pray (continuation of Dreams/Value inventory)
9:40 pm Finished journaling and hung out with Kam and Daniel
10:08 pm Got into bed and watched one episode of Designated Survivor
10:54 pm Went to sleep
