There is so much beauty here in San Mateo. I wake up in my hammock every morning with a beautiful and breathtaking view of the mountain we live in. I can’t believe God created such a beautiful place that is surrounded by beautiful and loving people.
We live at the camp with our Host Rhayan and Michelle and their four kids Titus, Elisha, Gabriel, and Marga. There are three guys that live there also who help out with the work that needs to be done around the camp. Emil, Noy, and Ehman have been so helpful when it comes to getting around the town and completing jobs that need to be done around the camp.
This ministry focuses on a clinic for women with children and a weekend camp for street boys from Manila. Wednesday are clinic days and the camp grounds become flooded with women and children from the nearby town. Michelle shares a bible study for the women and we are able to love and play with the children.
The street kids camp overwhelms my team’s hearts with so much love. The boys that we are able to meet and love on are able to come and get away from the begging street life. They constantly live a life of begging and defending their own self. The first night they arrived they instantly flooded the room with their smiles and love for us. They were teaching us their language and pulling us in for hugs and love. We had dance parties, played soccer, and had a bon fire with the boys. Even though these boys live on the streets and beg for money they were so willing to offer up their snacks and food to us to make sure we had some. One boy in particular caught my heart. Martin is so special and I know God has great things in store for him. He is so considerate and loving. He constantly looked around at his friends to make sure they were smiling and having a good time. One of the hardest things was saying goodbye to him knowing I will never see him again.
Being in a different country just calls for so much adventure. From going to the beach during a storm to trying to maneuver through a crazy city to trying to jump on the correct jeepney to get to your correct destination. I love every minute of it and can’t believe this is only month one. God speaks to us through this adventure as well as ministry and quiet time. Many stumbling blocks and chains have been broken during this first month.
Next month will be a total different adventure, but the Philippines has won over my heart. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me get to where I am. I still can’t believe that I am actually here and serving others for Christ. I still need some more funds to stay on this amazing journey. Please continue praying for me and my team and also giving if the Lord lays it on your heart to. Also, you can keep up with me on Facebook to look at the photos I have taken!
