New Leaf,
consider yourself turned over.
who needs to wait for New Year’s Eve anyway?!?!
I have decided that since I am a physical, emotional and spiritual being, it is time I start blogging about all aspects of who I am. So this is the beginning. You have followed along on an intensely spiritual journey. I hope you’ll join me as I seek physical health as well as spiritual health. I mean the health of all these areas are intertwined anyway, and maybe you’ll even decide you want to do more to pursue physical health with me!
Phase 1:
THE CLEANSE.
So, God taught me many lessons on the World Race.
Many of them in Africa. Two very significant things God did were:
#1 Freed my mind from the slavery of a poor body image,
which had its climax at the beginning of month 6
when I said goodbye to my favorite pair of size 4 Rock & Republic jeans
and hello to a larger, less stylish pair of Kenyan thrift store jeans!
#2 Gave me an increasing desire to truly take care of my body.
I traded my old mindset of: I have to be a size 4 and weigh 135lbs in order to be beautiful.
for the renewed mindset of: I desire to be healthy and strong; to make healthy decisions that are good for my body because it is the temple of the Holy Spirit . . . and that is truly a beautiful thing.
So I came back from the World Race unable to fit into my pre-race pants with less muscle tone than when I started, and not to mention, killer stomach issues. Since Romania (month 9) I have not been able to eat ANYTHING without my stomach hurting about two hours later. Sometimes it is doubled-over-in-pain-my-stomach-is-in-knots-and-screaming-pain. Needless to state the obvious (but I will anyway) I have been traveling 11 months and eating 11 different diets that I wouldn’t normally choose for myself and now my body is revolting.
So tomorrow starts The cleanse.
This should be interesting. Hope you’ll join me.
