I was sitting across from a nurse friend here in Cambodia. We were having lunch together. She works in a poor neighborhood close to the river. She was telling me about work and updating me on some of the families we mutually know and updating me on how the children of those families are doing.

“Do you remember _______________?” she asked me.

“I do.”

“Her mother has already told me when she turns 12, she will sell her.” my friend’s voice drifts off as she looks down at the table.

I also sat in silence trying to comprehend what she just said, feeling helpless to know what to do.

A decision has already been made. We have two years. Two years before this little girl turns 12. Two years before her mother will decide sell her to a brothel.

According to the Cambodian Women’s Development Association- 47% of the women who were coerced into prostitution, were sold their by a family member, neighbor, or friend.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for those mothers today that are considering selling their children- pray for the Holy Spirit to change their minds.
  • Pray for healing in the heart’s of those sold. Pray that un-forgiveness would not lock them up in a different kind of cell.
  • Pray Psalm 18 over those who are locked in bondage and in a brothel somewhere in Cambodia. Pray the Lord would come swiftly to their rescue and not delay.
  • Pray for Divine wisdom, strategy, and understanding; that I may learn, and comprehend the way in which the Lord is asking me to get involved in preventing and rescuing these little ones from predators.
  • Pray for all those fighting in the efforts to see the end of human trafficking in Cambodia. Pray that our hearts, passions and efforts would bring us together in unity.
Thank you for praying with me.
