Over the past month, I have really come to better understand what it truly means to have “Unshakeable faith”. Faith is not just believing in God and believing that He is with us when we feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Faith–Unshakeable faith–is believing and trusting in God when we don’t feel close to Him at all. This is not to say that He is not there, but sometimes God challenges us with silence and unanswered questions and feelings in order to strengthen our faith and our relationship with Him.
So what I’ve been thinking lately is what should we, as followers of Christ, do in the moments of emptiness and loneliness? I think those moments are what truly show God whether we have unshakeable faith. I know people in my life that begin to doubt Him every time they don’t feel His presence or anytime something bad happens to them. That isn’t unshakeable faith. The point of tribulation is so that we seek God wholeheartedly. John 16:33 says, “I Have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I [Jesus] have overcome the world”. So, I think that is the answer. Jesus is not saying that peace is a result of a trouble-free life. He is saying that In times of trouble, we should be turning our eyes and hearts to Him to acquire peace, rather than turning to the world (where there is no peace).
Everyone struggles. Everyone questions their faith. But faith isn’t just believing. Faith is sustaining your belief through the trials and tribulations of life and coming out the other end closer to God.
IF OUR GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE
AGAINST US?
