For the past few weeks, I have been really struggling with
the idea of raising $14,300 and the cost of all the other things I need to buy
such as, shots, a tent, backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad etc… I am
typically not a very anxious person.
I rarely worry about things because I truly believe God is in control
and there is no sense in getting worried when He knows best.  However, the past few weeks have been
an exception.  I started noticing
that others on my team have been doing really well in their support raising
efforts, whereas I seem to be struggling to meet the support raising
goals.  I have mailed out over 75
letters and have come up with different fundraising ideas, but nothing
substantial has happened yet.

On Tuesday, I was feeling overwhelmed and unusually anxious
every time someone would ask me how things were going.  There is a group of older ladies who
meet at Caribou every couple weeks and work on crafts together.  This particular day, they were making
greeting cards.  When they were leaving,
one of the ladies stopped and walked over to the counter, handed me a card and
walked out.  At first I was puzzled,
but as soon as I read it I knew that it was a comforting word from God.  The front of the card read:

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1
Peter 5:7

It was definitely one of those moments that can only be
explained by the hand of God.  I
know that He is in control.  I am
absolutely positive that He has called me to this trip and that He is just
looking for me to trust in Him whole-heartedly.  I may not meet the monthly goals for the support raising,
but there is something so powerful about watching God show up at the last
minute when you least expect Him to.   He did that for me this summer when I needed to raise
$1,600 for my trip to Scotland.  I
had about $1,300 in my account when I left for training camp and was unsure
whether or not the money would be in my account in time.  On the very last day of training camp,
I checked my account to find not only the $300 I needed, but also an additional
$200 to cover the cost of my visa.
God showed up.  He always
does, but it is our job to have a little faith and trust that He will.
