We met Jason on a bus on the way home from the beach. One of my teammates started chatting with Him and as we got off the bus we invited him to our Kanga-Barbie (Kangaroo BBQ).
Over the next few weeks we kept running into Jason around town and inviting him to hang out with us. We even got the pleasure of celebrating His birthday with him on the beach one night with sparklers and a cake!
Jason is a friend that we prayed for and loved in no extraordinary way. We were blessed to spend time with him and eagerly made him a part of our family.
We never pressed the issue of religion. We were simply ourselves and enjoyed having our “kiwi” friend around to share with us about his life in Perth.
On our LAST NIGHT in Australia, Jason asked Jesus to be the King of his life!! I was literally running around the base saying goodbyes and gathering my things when Jason grabbed me and shared the great news with a huge smile on his face and tiny tears in his eyes. My heart exploded as we hugged and rejoiced in the Lord. It was like reading my favorite book for the first time again. The joy beaming from his face spoke so much freedom.
I loved getting to know Jason and would have left Australia with that same thought regardless of his surrender, but experiencing Christ in his life just made it that much sweeter…
