Hello from Honduras!

I have arrived in Honduras for month two. We took buses from Guatemala through El Salvador to Honduras. We are staying at Zion’s Gate located outside the city of Tegucigalpa. This place was formerly a bar/strip club that the Lord has been transformed into a home. Tony Deien, our main ministry contact this month, has an amazing vision for the children of Honduras. For the past few years he has been working with children who live on the streets of Los Piños, a poor neighborhood filled with violence, drugs, and alcohol. These kids that have been living on the streets are given an opportunity for a home, a family. There are several boys ages ranging 6 years old to 20 years old and a few girls who live on the property that previously lived on the streets. We have been hanging out with the kids and also participating in ministry outside of the property.

With the Lord’s guidance Tony and his wife Nidia are helping to bring hope, love, and life into the lives of these children.

It is beautiful.

This week we built gravel paths on the ministry’s property in the mornings that are open to anyone who wants to pass through. They want to make it a welcoming place to all who pass by/through.  It looks pretty nice if I do say so myself….It was hard work though! My team of tough girls were given the tasks to wheel-barrow loads of rocks back and forth, find-lift-and arrange rocks, turn up dirt, rake rocks, cut the grass via a machete and we worked hard! I will never grumble about cutting the lawn at home as long as I don’t have to cut it with a machete.

In the afternoons, we made house visits to people in the surrounding village/community. We got to know some beautiful people. Visiting strangers’ houses in the United States isn’t like visiting houses here. The people of Honduras are welcoming, friendly, and treat you so generously.  We often get to hear their stories, about their family, and share a little about ourselves. We offer to pray for them and otherwise just let them know that they are loved and important. One house visit I was able to pray over a woman who they think has diabetes but is not able to have the tests done to confirm it, it was special because I have diabetes and I fully believe that the Lord will heal both of us. On one house visit, we prayed healing over a woman with a hernia, and by the end of our prayers her pain was gone! Last week, our team got to lead a dear sister we met to Christ. It was beautiful to see the Lord's love embrace her before my own eyes.

God is showing me that He is everywhere and the beauty in each person He created.  He is showing me what breaks His heart and is breaking mine for what breaks His.  There is so much pain/suffering/lack of love here that crushes my heart. I know there is suffering everywhere in the world, but I ask you to pray for Healing for Honduras!

I am praying for love to rock this nation.

I am praying for Redemption.

I am praying for Peace.

I am praying for Justice.

I am praying for God to work in the hearts of all who call Honduras Home.
