Well, my team and I had a great opportunity last week to be able to change the life of a beautiful little girl that had no citizenship or proof that she existed. My teammate posted this blog (which I highly suggest taking a look at). Before I was ever able to post a blog of my own, the money needed was raised, with an excess that came to about $600, and will go toward her schooling and medical expenses. PRAISE JESUS!! Everyone who gave, is helping to lift this little girl out of poverty and hopelessness.
As a team, we had decided to raise funds for this little girl. However, there were two other projects we wanted to do while we were here in Ratchaburi, Thailand. This is why I am writing you all. We need your help to bless two more people.
1) The first of these people is one of the YWAM staff at the Ratchaburi base. His name is Mongkhon, and he is essentially our dad here in Ratchaburi. He is one of the most loving, compassionate, amazing individuals I have ever known, and I am so thankful I get to live life with him for awhile. He continually goes out of his way to make sure the team and I are happy, comfortable and always full of good food. He is our housing host, our cook (when the desire hits him), our personal chauffeur, and the best tour guide around. But Mongkhon needs glasses. He has a pair of horribly scratched lenses in a pair of broken frames held together by tape, but they are old, unusable, and very much needed. Coming from a glasses-wearer, this situation needs to be redeemed.
As a team we wanted to bless Mongkhon with a new pair of glasses and went to see how much it would cost. The cost 3300 Baht, which works out to about $107 USD. The only problem is that we dent have any room in our team budget for that. So here we are, asking all of you to be another big part of our journey on this race. This is a way that we can very practically meet a need here where we live, for a man that gives his all to Jesus and serves him with our without glasses.

2) The second project we are wanting to do is for a family that lives on our street. “Boo” and “Wit” happen to own our favourite restaurant in town, serving the best food and with the biggest smiles. Walking past it, you would never think that it was an upstanding place to eat, but taking the advice from our Contacts and the leaders of YWAM Ratchaburi, we gave it a shot and fell in love. The restaurant is run out of the bottom floor of their home, and is in severe disrepair. There is virtually no paint on the bottom half of the walls, grease stains on the walls and ceilings, and sad chairs (one of which Aaron broke during lunch one day).
Wit, Boo, and their family are not just great cooks, they are also great people with huge hearts. I can’t tell you how many times they have blessed us. Many times, Wit will sneaks to the back and cuts up fresh fruit for us as a loving treat. They also share their dog Ohm-Mo with us- which is probably Ali’s favorite part. Sometims we order food, and take the cutie out for a walk, getting to have a pet away from home, and blessing his owners at the same time. Moral of the story, these are people with beautiful hearts that have loved to bless us, but we want to be able to do the same back.
The problem is, like before, it is not possible to serve the way we wish to within our budget. Our plan is to, as a team, take a day or two to sand down/clean the walls, then give it a fresh coat of paint. It might seem simple, but I know this will make a world of difference to Wit, Boo and their family. The cost for paint is going to be between $45 and $58 for one container of paint. We plan on painting their restaurant during the night of January 27th, as to avoid them closing for business for an entire day, and losing much-needed income.
Boo and Wit’s Restaurant:
This project is so very dear to my heart, and I am so excited for it! To donate to Wit, Boo, and their family, please click here. Please be sure to use the keyword “Restaurant” to make sure the donation goes to this cause. You have 48 hours.
Thank you once again to each of you for being the blessing that got us on this crazy adventure known as the World Race, and I thank you in advance for the blessing I know you will be for each of these people. Thank you for being attentive to the heart strings in us that have been plucked! Talk to you in 48.
