Here’s what we’ve been up to in Budaka, Uganda!

Welcome to Cornerstone Ministries orphanage! The kids are all dressed in their school uniforms here. They go to school right here where they live, and they love to learn. At night, we pray with them before they go to sleep, and last night I asked Wakita (one of the little boys) if he had any prayer requests. He said “Yes. Please pray for me to have knowledge.” We are eating breakfast in this picture, which is usually porridge and ground nuts.

Hanging out with the kids! I’m holding Wakita here, who I mentioned above. They are so wonderful!

One Saturday each month, Cornerstone Ministries hosts Saturday School, where all the kids in the community are invited to come and sing songs, play games, and learn about Jesus. And this was the turn out for October!

Last week, each morning we would go out into the different villages that Budaka is consisted of and share the love of Christ with people in their homes. We traveled from hut to hut to share the Good News, and many people opened their hearts and accepted Christ!

We also participated in nightly crusades, which were held in different villages each night. My teammate, Kirsten, is shown here giving her testimony during the crusade in Budaka town the first night. It was amazing to see hundreds of people come out to see what this crusade was all about. We sang, we danced, we saw God’s hand move in these people.

Something that is really delightful to me is that we get to teach the kids art class! Although they are taught art in school, supplies is expensive, and they have never even held a paintbrush. But our contact got a special package in the mail from a friend full of different paints and brushes and paper. This month, the kids have been not only learning art techniques but finally getting to put them into practice!

This is inside the school room where the older kids learn. Here, Auntie Kirsten is teaching them (and Uncle Chad’s learning too) how to draw.

With gloves on and bags in hand, we are setting out to make Budaka beautiful! Trash is just thrown anywhere here, so we are taking the kids around the town to pick up the “rubbish”. They understand that we should take care of the world that God has given us to live in.

She’s ready for some community clean-up!

At the beginning of this month, my whole squad was able to meet up in Jinja and white water raft the Nile River! It was absolutely amazing experience.
