Cambodia is a wonderful country. I’m so glad I had the chance to spend a second month here. This is simply a quick update to let you know how the month went.
This month we designed our own version of English club and VBS. There are about ten children who live at the church who were rescued off the streets of Cambodia. We were asked to invest in these kids by helping them progress in their English skills.
Well, I figured we should work on their English skills, but being the student of the Word that I am, I asked to add Bible teaching to these English lessons. This was perfectly acceptable to the church and so my friend Kayla and I put together a schedule that would include about an hour of English followed by an hour of learning about the Bible.
This is an example of what the evening looked like:
4:00pm – the kids arrived home from school
5:00-5:15pm – Cassandra led conversational English
5:15-5:30pm – I worked on the letters of the English alphabet with them
5:30-5:45pm – Kayla helped with pronunciation of English words
5:45-6:00pm – Marissa taught a fun English song
6:00-6:15pm – we talked about key words in the Bible story we were learning that day
6:15-6:30pm – Jamison acted out a Bible story for the children
6:30-6:45pm – Abel and Mark led a game to help them memorize a Bible verse
6:45-7:00pm – We ended with dancing/cheer/and prayer
So this is how our past weeks were spend with the children. We had other small ministry projects here and there but the main task here was to love on these kids. They are a great group! I’ve had so much fun spending time with them.
This Saturday we travel to our final country, Vietnam. It is crazy to look back and see how quickly this year has gone. At the same time, I can’t help but smile at all the Lord has done. Even better news is knowing that there is still so much He is doing with me. I look forward to the ways God will use me in Vietnam and then as I head back to my lovely home country.
The Lord alone be praised.
