Hola!

I’m currently sitting on a porch in Lajas, DR. God has been so present during this first week of ministry, speaking of which, I have almost completed my first week of ministry on the World Race. It’s still a little surreal. 6 out of the 8 teams that make up O Squad are working together at the same ministry this month. During this first week, with about 40 of us serving together, we have experienced a lot of spiritual attacks. People have been having nightmares, visions, a difficult time sleeping and also suffering from exhaustion in all areas. The other night the men met in their dorm and the women met in the their dorm and we worshiped and prayed over our sleeping areas. Many of us still didn’t sleep well that night, but there were no bad dreams, to my knowledge.

I found that there has been a reoccurring over the last couple weeks as I have prepared for and stepped onto the mission field. Before I left, some women from my life group reminded me of the importance of dressing myself in the armor of God. Lori, Sabrina, and Mandie went through putting on the armor, and the shoes of peace stuck out to me the most, because even though I had peace about this journey being God led, I was still nervous.  Lori also told me to put on the robe of righteousness. Sabrina and Mandie reminded that the shoes of peace are like Dorothy’s ruby slipper, I am the only one that can take them off. Like the witch with the ruby slippers, Satan will try to take your peace, but he can only take from you as much as you will let him.

Since I have been in the DR, a couple of others have reminded us of the armor of God. Yesterday I was talking to one of my squad leaders and told her I felt like maybe we should put on the armor of God, along with the robe of righteousness, together as a squad. Last night during our night devotion one of our ministry partners spoke and she talked to us about the power of putting on the armor of God! And she went through putting it on just like Lori had done with me before I left! She even talked about putting on the garments of salvation which is mentioned in the same verse as the robe of righteousness!! It was so perfect, especially since I had just been talking to Dani about it earlier. Last night was the best night of sleep I’ve had all week! There is power in our words and in speaking truth. The Armor of God is so powerful!

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Ephesians 6:13-17

“I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,…”

Isaiah 61:10

I love y’all! Always remember to dress yourself in the armor of God! 🙂
