Living missionally has been a huge learning curve for me. Living every moment of every day for Christ and being selfless with my time has been a struggle. I don’t want to spend my time absorbed in myself, I want to focus on those around me. This week opened up a lot of those opportunities.

Summer break is coming up this next week for the schools here in Guatemala, so we haven’t been teaching classes anymore. This past week we weren’t in schools at all and we had no scheduled ministry. So how was I supposed to steward all that time well?

We spent many hours this week sitting in coffee shops. This allowed us to have so much good one on one time with Jesus and with each other. I was able to read through lots of scripture and talk to the girls sitting around me about what I was all reading and experiencing. We were able to pour into one another and challenge one another to keep going deeper.

Maggie and I were also able to help out a wonderful couple we met our first week here. They’re from America but they’ve lived in Guatemala for about 2 years now and own a bakery. God has provided so much for them and their business has continued to grow and they’re in the process of moving into a larger building, so we were able to help paint and move some furniture. They told us that they’ve been praying for community and fellowship. We told them all about Shoreline church and about the awesome Sisterhood group that was happening this week. God has such perfect timing and she was able to join us this week!

We also all got the chance to go to Lake Atitlan this week with a group of ladies from Texas who were hosting a retreat for the staff of New Generation. We joined in on their sessions and I never thought I’d receive anything from these total strangers. But God moved so much in those two days we were with them! We had amazing worship and prayer with them and they poured so much into us!

God has moved so much in my life this week. I didn’t go to scheduled ministry once this week but that had no effect God’s plan. He has something for me every single day no matter where I am or what my plans might be. He can move in awesome ways through some of the simplest conversations and acts of service. Living missionally can be a struggle some days, but when we lean into God in every moment He can move in big ways and open up so many doors for us.
