My name is Kourtney Bartel and I’m from the great white north (aka Canada)! I’m in grade 12 and that’s the time when everyone seems to think we should have our futures planned. But being the indecisive person I am, I had no clue what to do next. So when the opportunity came to go on the World Race Gap Year in August 2016 I just couldn’t pass it up, so here I am!

I like things to be short, sweet, and to the point so here’s a quick look at who I am!

  • I play rugby (which usually shocks everyone to find out!)
  • I have two older sisters, one older brother, and a brother-in-law
  • I grew up on a farm
  • I volunteer at an after school literacy program for children in gr.3-6 that’s set up by a local Christian organization
  • I went to a private school for nine years
  • I enjoy drawing, painting, and photography
  • I love all kinds of animals, especially my dog and horses
  • I love reading
  • A great evening consists of hot chocolate and a Disney movie or a good hockey game
  • I love exploring and travelling
