Hey Everyone! I’ve been getting lots of questions from friends and family ranging from the simple to the complex in regards to this insane adventure. I love the questions, and I think everyone should keep asking them! But here are some of the simple questions I would like to answer to make things easy!
Yes I’m actually leaving on October 1st or 2nd for basically a year! I will be going to 11 different countries in 11 months (Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Uganda, Rwanda, Albania, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, China. In that order). My group is called “P Squad” and we are the October route 4 group! To continue to follow my journey hit subscribe at the top of this page and you will get an email when I post! Also Follow me on Instagram (@koriyergler) and facebook!
Here are some FAQ and answers to help you understand what I will be going through and what is all involved.
- Who are you going with?
- The World Race is through a mission organization called Adventures in Mission based out of Atlanta GA. In August I will be heading down for a 10 day training camp (Aug 10-20th) where I will learn what it’s like to be a Racer and meet all my lovely Squad mates! My Squad is made up of about 30 people (age 21-35) who all have a passion to bring Christ to the nations. At training camp we will be camping in our tents and living minimally out of our backpacks to help us prepare for what it may be like on the Race. Also during this time in GA my squad will be broken up into teams of 4-6 people, each team will go to the same country at the same time but the teams will be at different ministries throughout the month. I also often get asked if I know anyone else who is going with me. I have meet one girl on my squad! Her name is Angela and she is super cool! She lives up in Ottawa IL and we got to hang out one afternoon! (she also went to Olivet!!). Please pray that my team mates and I become fast friends and can develop a Christ centered community before we leave!
- What can you bring with you?
- I will be taking a 65L backpack and a smaller “school” backpack with me. In my backpacks: Passport, 2 person tent (yes I maybe camping a lot), sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothing, ENO Hammock, only 2 pair of shoes (Chacos & running shoes), laptop, Kindle, ipod, light coat, pocket knife, bug spray, sunscreen, and my cat Basil (Just kidding! I wish!). And that’s not everything!
- WoW $17,000!! That’s so much money! How are you paying for that!?
- What does the $17,000 cover? Flights, buses, trains, taxi rides, and any other form of transportation we may need. Food and housing! If you think about it that’s not much $ for all it covers for 11 months!
- How am I paying for this? I’m fundraising! If you look at the blue bar at the top of this page you can see where I’m at with my fundraising! I’ve been so blessed by all the support I’ve received so far its unbelievable! Pray that I continue to receive support!
- What will you be doing?
- Every country will look different! We will be partnering with existing ministries and basically doing whatever they need us to do, whether it be painting a church, running a VBS, teaching ESL, or doing door to door ministry to try and build up their ministry. Pray that God uses us in mighty ways!
- Also every month we will have a handful of days that are “free days” or “adventure days” where we can explore the city we are in, swim under a waterfall, hike up a mountain, or any other adventurous thing that our heart desires! All of these free days are payed for out of our own pocket so I’m going to have to budget wisely!

- What are you going to do when you get home?
- I have no idea! I’ll still want to work as a nurse I think. but where? I really don’t know! We will have to see what God has in store for me!
Thanks for reading! I have loved all the kind words I’ve received so far keep it up friends! If you have more questions comment below or ask me in person!
