Hey!
My name, if you already haven’t figured it out, is Kole Purdy. I’m 18 years old, I have a passion for Jesus, travel, and photography. I am a full-time professional photographer. If you’re interested, my website is http://www.kolepurdyphotography.com/ !
In November of 2014, my family and I left for an 8-month world journey. It was life changing. On that trip, God opened my eyes to many different things about Himself and myself. He revealed my gift of photography. He gave me perspective of other cultures. He showed me the brokenness of our world, and He showed me how much the world desperately needs Him and His love.
After returning to the States I felt out of place. I had seen so much across the globe that I could not ignore. In the midst of my senior year, I began asking God what He wanted me to do with my life immediately following graduation. Questions began flooding my thoughts and prayers.
What is my purpose?
Do I go straight to college? Or at all?
Do I leave high school and move to Africa, Turkey, or New Zealand?
Why did God give me the gift of photography?
Is there something The Lord has for me that is yet to be revealed?
After months of prayer and counsel with my parents and others that The Lord has put in my life; God clearly communicated: ‘The World Race Gap Year’. The World Race Gap Year is a 9-month journey to be the love of Christ. I’ll be traveling to 5 countries: Costa Rica, Nicaragua, The Philippines, Ethiopia, and Nepal. Gap Year participants go deep into communities serving those most in need. As you might imagine, this journey will be life changing and I’m expecting God to give me direction for next steps in my life during and after this journey. Those on The World Race live on $10 per day and all belongings are limited to a backpack. I anticipate being shaped, molded, and changed through the challenges that I will face, including living outside of my comfort zone; I am confident of this. I am excited for this – more than I can express.
