It’s been a busy last month or two with holidays, school, and everything in between! I hope that all of you have had an awesome winter, I’d like to hear what you’ve been up to! As the new year really gets under way, I’ve really started to thing about my expectations for the World Race. There’s no shortage of places that my mind wanders to when thinking about the Race, but here’s a handful of things that I keep coming back to: Faith, Growing Up, Changing Lives, and Joy.
I expect to be challenged in my faith. I know that there are going to be times before and during this adventure that I’m going to want to quit and disconnect, but I know that God will pull me through.
I want to grow up. Yes, I’m 21 and legally classified as an “adult”. but I don’t feel entirely that I’ve grown up yet. Already I am being challenged and the Race hasn’t even begun. I know that God will be moving in new ways to make me into the man that he wants me to be. One who relies on him for everything, both spiritually and physically.
I expect lives to be changed. Not just my own, but everyone who I encounter on the Race, everyone who has supported me, and people here at home. I know that many people’s lives will be changed in the next year, and that’s exciting! I expect God to perform miracles, however subtle or grand, in the months to come.
Finally, I expect to be Joyful! I know that there will be struggles, trials, and downright tough situations before, during, and on the Race. Such is life. But during those moments, those seasons, I will be joyful. Not because I’ll pull myself up by my bootstraps and say, “I’m Happy.” but I will truly be joyful because of the things that God has provided, and will provide. His grace and mercy are more than enough, my debt is paid, and I have been set free! Though sometimes everything may be falling apart around me, I expect to be joyful.
Psalm 5:11– But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. (ESV)
If you want to know anything at all about what’s going on in my life or with regards to the race, give me a shout! I’d love to hear about what’s going on in yours!
