What is the World Race?
The World Race sends out hundreds of young adults, who are desiring to be apart of something bigger than the American dream, each year on different routes. 11 countries in 11 months! The purpose is to spread the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ across the nations!
With two backpacks, a belly full of foreign food and very worn shoes, racers travel country to country living among the locals, loving them and doing life with them. Rather it be teaching English, playing with orphans, praying over the sick and elderly, building churches, befriending prostitutes, severing refugees, digging holes for wells and so many other intricate things God sees and smiles upon. Reaching out to people to touch hearts and impact life’s. From the blogs I have read from past and current racers it seems like the locals change racers life’s just as much as racers impact their life’s. A scripture that seems to come up often in the race to describe what being a missionary on the World Race is like is 1 Corinthians 22-23 “I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
Why the World Race and not Hollywood?
Ever since I was 16 I have felt called to Hollywood. I love writing scripts and Directing, I absolutely adore acting. I am constantly in awe at what all goes on into making a film and what kind of impact it can make. And I feel so drawn to be light in a place that is so dark. My passions for this have not changed, I know God will bring me to Hollywood one day, just not yet.
I have never been on a missions trip before, and its not like I haven’t wanted to go I just have never had the opportunity. For the past two years I have been going to a Christian film internship in Texas. Going into it I thought, this is perfect! Go get experience then go to Hollywood and pray that I find work. Well….God can be funny. A friend of mine, who was attending the same internship, had the planed to go on the World Race after. I remember hearing about thinking it was cool and I was excited for her but I didn’t think much of it after that. Well about 6 to 8 months later, out of nowhere God embeds the Wold Race in my heart. I start looking into it more and this desire and passion for the World Race just overwhelms me. Being confused, I prayed about it for a week, Asking God to solidify that it was Him and HE wanted me to do this. Well A week goes by and a girl walks into the film internship I was attending, interested in the program. I go over to introduce myself, come to find out…she had just gotten back from the race 3 days ago! Ever since then it has been a journey but God has been faithful and will continue to be! He has grown my heart for the countries I will be going to, and I can not wait to meet the people only God knows I will encounter.
How can I support and be apart of this mission?
Support through prayer- I cherish and value prayers very much! Please pray that my eyes will stay focused on God, for this is not about me. Please pay that my faith will continue to increase and that I will hold onto the promise that God will provide for everything I need.
Support through finical giving- I have to raise a little over $17,000. Although that is a lot of money, I know it will be okay and everything will be provided for! I am reaching my $5,000 deadline on September 23rd. If you would like to or feel lead to give towards this mission I would be forever thankful. Any amount even if its just $5 dollars would help, and get me closer to embarking on this Mission God has put on my heart.
Who is Klancy Baker?
That’s me!! In all honesty, this is a question I have asked my self ever since I was a little girl. I grew up with alcoholic parent’s, always feeling like I wasn’t worthy enough to love. When I was 15 I encountered God in a way that changed my life, realizing that I am worthy to love and He loves me and knows me more than anyone.
What I know about me is that I love Jesus more than anything! And I have this unending desire to live for something bigger than myself. I love to play in the rain. I love to sing in the shower…even if I sound like a dying horse. I love film making, everything about it! Telling stories and showing people that life is not glamorous…in fact its broken and messy …but there is hope and you are not alone! I grew up doing Theatre and adore acting with all my heart. I have this love hate relationship for Shakespeare…the man made his own vocabulary…only William could get away with that! I love music! Especially instrumental, film scores and classical music! I don’t like romantic movies like I use to…I think it portrays and false image of love. I hope to create a ministry one day, where we travel to countries performing plays in small towns and villages, making an opportunity for unity. I also hope to have my own production company.
Above all else, I love my God, and I love all of you. Everything I do, I want to do it out of love.
