Now that my blog is live and many of you (my friends and family) will be viewing it, I thought it might be beneficial to explain exactly what this World Race thing is about.
The World Race is a Christian mission trip for 21-35 year olds. You travel for 11 months to 11 different countries. You live out of a backpack for 11 months. You wear one weeks worth of clothes for 11 months. You shower about once a week for a 11 months. You master the squatty potty for 11 months. You don't flush toilet paper for 11 months. You live in mud huts, tents, and little spaces for 11 months. You build relationships for 11 months. You live in intenional community for 11 months. You help and serve the "least of these," the needy and the broken for 11 months. You hope to change lives for 11 months. And all the while, you are completely changed yourself.
While on the race, you partner with in-country ministries and contacts to do whatever needs to be done. One week you might be building a church or house and the next you might be rocking an orphaned baby to sleep. Another week you might be smiling at the senior citizen and the next week you might be in a bar interacting with sex slaves and prostitutes. The work is varied yet vital.
This mission trip was presented to me during my senior year of college. I didn't give it much thought back then. Over the past two years, God has done some drastic changes in my life and this time He presented me with the opportunity to serve Him around the world for 11 months. In complete fear, I accepted His offer knowing that He is trustworthy and faithful.
I launch in September to Zimbabwe/Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, China, India, the Philippines, Ukraine, Moldova, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama/Costa Rica. Will you support me?
