An unambiguous, extensive, packing list. PRE TRAINING CAMP.

I’ve
decided, that because I haven’t been able to find any super specific detailed
lists on what people are bringing on the race, I’m going to start one.

Hopefully,
this will be helpful to many future racers. I plan to post updates, like when I
realize I didn’t need that fourth t-shirt or wish I really had brought my
juggling balls.

Disclaimer:
This is going to be YOUR RACE. Ultimately, you will have to decide what you want to bring and what you
want to deal with. (Justin Jue will love me for that one.)

GEAR

Internal
Frame Backpack: Kelty Redcloud 5400 (this is bigger than what the World Race
suggests, especially for a girl, but because I’m borrowing it, I’m not going to
complain.)

Freestanding
tent: Hubba Hubba with matching footprint. (yes. I got this because of the
name. And the reviews online. )

Sleeping
bag: Slumberjack Mummy sack rated at 20F… (though I have to be honest, I slept
in at on a 40 degree night. .. and I was
STILL freezing. So I don’t know what the deal is.

Sleeping
Pad: Wegner self inflating pad… I’ve never seen this name brand before, but I
think you could probably compare it to a thermarest. It’s huge though.  I’m also borrowing this. I hope it’s worth it.

Down Pillow:
It’s a regular sized pillow. I have only tried sleeping on the pad a few times,
but I realized that for ME to get a decent night’s sleep, I need a real pillow.
I hope I don’t regret this decision, as it takes up a ton of room.

A flat sheet

Daypack: A
jansport designed to carry a laptop.

Airporter: I
bought that fancy REI duffle. Why not.

yellow sweater shirt thingy.

1 Long
sleeve shirt

1 thermal

Vibram 5
Finger shoes (if you haven’t seen these, you’ve really missed out on life)

Sneakers

My cheap old
navy flip flops

5 pairs of
socks

2 pair of

the moment, Jesus among other Gods and Fields of the Fatherless)

A Bible.
Everyone else has said they’re going to bring a huge study bible. I’m going to
go with the lean and mean tiny version. I figure, everything I need is going to
be in there anyway. I’ll ask the Holy Spirit what he wants me to think
about/say

My laptop

My iPod
touch (I’m a spoiled North American.)

My cell
phone is unlocked, so I’m going to bring it in case I need to purchase a sim

Ziplock Bags

Stuff sacks

Duh.

Hmm.

I feel like I

More VIA.
(just enough for those “oh shoot. I need caffeine emergences. )

Work Gloves.
(you do NOT want to be without a pair… hand blisters suck.)

. . . I
think that’s pretty extensive. Ok now I’m going to go shoot a video about
trying to shove it all in my back pack.  I’m sure I forgot something.  I’ll comment if I do.
