To all my supporters, family and friends,
I hope you are enjoying the holidays! I am so happy to be home with my family this Christmas. Last year, I had the opportunity to celebrate in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia. My team was welcomed by such loving and hospitable families. We sang carols around the city (for 11 hours straight), decorated our host church with a tree and lights, enjoyed a feast and fellowship with college students, and helped organize a Christmas program. I’ll never forget waking up that warm Christmas morning to a table full of leftovers from the night before. It was a moment to practice gratitude and thank God for His provision, even though my taste buds were screaming for some eggs and bacon!
Now here I am, a year later, and I’m savoring the comforts of home, spending time with my precious niece, and thanking God for all the gifts He’s given me this year. One of those gifts is you, my supporter. Thank you for investing in my life and in the lives of many others around the world. The babies I was able to hold, the plates of beans and rice I was able to serve, and the men and women I was able to pray for, was all made possible because you decided to bless me, which therefore blessed the Nations.
On the WR, we used lingo such as: feedback, taking time to process, listening prayer, high preference, speak life, and last but not least, re-entry. Our talk on the race about re-entry was all about entering back into life in America. I began my re-entry process almost 5 months ago when I said goodbye to my squad of 55 and loaded all my stuff in a taxi without anyone sitting next to me. That memory still brings tears to my eyes. Although I was heartbroken, I knew it was time to face re-entry and begin life in Texas.
Despite the difficulty of re-entry, I have enjoyed the time spent with my parents, cracking up at episodes of Modern Family and eating at our favorite texmex restaurant. I’ve enjoyed watching my older brother connect so well with his beautiful little daughter. Most of all, I’ve enjoyed Jesus, who has comforted me when I have felt overwhelmed, uncertain, and lonely.
In this next season, God is leading me to move to Gainesville, Georgia to serve with Adventures in Missions at their main headquarters. Starting in January, I will take part in the Center for Global Action (CGA) apprentice program. Thankfully, I have the privilege of learning from an array of leaders, mentors, and World Race alumni. One of my biggest passions is worship. I am not a worship leader nor do I play an instrument, but I come alive when I am singing to God, dancing, praying, running, and serving. During my time at CGA, I will be focused on learning more about cultivating a lifestyle of worship, which involves more than just singing in church on Sunday morning. I am incredibly eager to start this new journey!
Since I am depending fully on financial support to live daily life, I invite you to take part in this next venture with me by giving financially and praying for this new transition. My goal is to raise $10,000 for the year, which will cover all of my expenses while living on a limited budget. Would you prayerfully consider giving a one time donation or becoming one of my monthly supporters?
Please make checks available to Adventures in Missions and put Kirby McErlane CGA in the memo line.
