I'll start this blog off by saying that I truly value and look forward to worship time. Anyone who has spent even a little time with me can easily figure out that I love to dance. I love swaying, spinning, jumping, and moving my hips (not too crazy). I experience so much joy when my hands are raised, giving thanks and honor to the Lord. Even more so, I love watching others worship. It's so beautiful to witness people encounter the presence of God. Whether they are shouting praises, simply kneeling before God, or sitting quietly as they take time to be still before Him, I am always in awe of how the Spirit uniquely leads each person in worship.
One of my favorite things about the WR is that I have the opportunity to embrace and observe worship styles in 11 different countries. I consider this opportunity as a rich blessing which I know I will treasure forever.

This month has been full of experiencing different styles of worship. Our team has visited 4 churches and each place has graciously welcomed us with hugs, smiles, and encouragement. One of the churches we visited is located in a wealthy area of Santo Domingo and it reminded us of a church we would go to in America. Coffee was served outside, there was a.c., a screen with lyrics, and everyone wanted to go out to eat afterwards. As for a complete contrast, another church we visited was located off a bumpy dirt road in the middle of a small community. We were the worship leaders. Young girls danced around the church with their long, flowing dresses. Oh, and it was HOT! Back home, I bring a cardigan because I'm always freezing.

A memory that stands out is when our team visited a church service where only 5 people showed up. I honestly did not think the service would be that eventful, let alone fun. I was pleasantly surprised. 🙂 When the bible study was over, we lead a couple of worship songs and then one by one, each church member would come up and sing a song. We called it, “church karaoke.” The last lady who came up decided she would not stop after singing one song. She kept going and going and shouted out, “Young people help me come alive!” We had a blast!

I am incredibly eager to worship God and enjoy His people throughout the next 10 months! Part 2: Haiti!
"Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all people." -Psalm 96:1-3
