It all started about 3 wks ago. My friend, Pat, who worked in the Coffee House suggested YWAM would love to participate in “The Call” day of prayer taking place in D. C.. Our immediate response was something like this, “We would love it!”

What’s “The Call” you may be wondering? Well, it was a prayer gathering in the Mall of DC on Aug 15. They asked for a million people, especially youth, to gather at our Nation’s Capital to unite in prayer for the sole purpose of lifting up the nation to the Lord.   A day were Gods people cried out for things like, truth & righteousness to reign in our leaders, for God’s mercy regarding the 50 million babies that have been killed by abortions since 1973, for the Church to be quick in reaching-out in Love towards other people regardless of “race”, social standing, sexual preference, etc.

We had some amazing people who helped put this event on (Grace Apostolic Prayer Ministries, YWAM, & a married couple who happen to be missionaries here). & somehow, I was in charge of it.  To head up my own project was so exciting. You see, every day my decisions for how I go about my day & do ministry..well, they really don’t exist on the Race. When you live & work with 4 other girls, you soon realize this truth. So, I was very excited for my own project.

We spent the next 2 wks praying, meeting, planning, & working on the event.   It took 3 hrs Fri evening to set-up the rooms–which was fun to see how everyone was working so well together. Sat @ 7:30 AM, I arrived at the Coffee House to do some last minute set-up before it started @ 8.  The layout of the Coffee House was all ready & here is what it looked like:

THE JOURNEY ROOM THE JOURNEY ROOM BEGINS

When you stepped into the Coffee House, the Journey Room was directly on your Lf. This was a room designed for personal prayer time. The Journey starts you off with God’s Holiness, then to stations of Confession & Repentance, to stations of Thanksgiving & Praise, then lastly to stations of Intercession & Petition. Someone who helped with this event was also really encouraged by this room & said this in an e-mail about it, “I went through the prayer trail three times because it was so powerful…I could have spent the whole day in there.  And I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.  People went in and lingered long, many cried…all were totally blessed.”  =)

THE MEETING ROOM

THE MEETING ROOM

This room was designed for corporate prayer. We had a live web stream of the event casted up on the wall with about 45 seats laid out, each w/a verse about prayer taped to the back. Along the walls were stations of the topics The Call was focusing on. The topics we prayed for were Family, Morality, Education, Church, Government, Business, & Media.  This was such a powerful time & I spent most of my day in this room. Some of the time we broke away from the web-cast to have our own time of worship, corporate intercession, & communion.

                 THE CHILL ROOM

OUR TEAM LINGERING W/YWAM'S DIRECTOR

This room was designated as a place where people could talk, read books, & drink coffee.  (It’s was this area + the room to the Lf.  You can’t see it b/c I forgot to get a picture of it!)

THE CALL DC coming to a close. So, the day of prayer was officially 8 AM – 8 PM, 10 – 10 in DC (see pic), with people coming & staying as they pleased.   I have been here in Antigua for close to a month now & I still saw people @ the event that I didn’t recognize–some even came in just to get coffee but found themselves welcomed into a national day of prayer.  & 12 hrs of praying…I have never prayed that long in my life! I have to say though, I think the thousands of prayers that were lifted up to the Lord that day were heard so, it was an honor to be a part of it & I will always remember that day. Hope you enjoyed this blog & if you want to know more about this project check-out the DC Promo Video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ldTQzAdFY&feature=related or go to their web-site, www.thecall.com .  (More pictures of Journey Room & Event on next blog.)
