Am I allowed to quote Katy Perry on my blog? Well it’s done now. Moving on.

This particular line is summing me up the last couple days. You know what you don’t find out until you’re on the race, one thing that hides from you then one day jumps out of the bushes and slaps you in the face
                                                                        …. HOMESICKNESS.

Yep, didn’t sign up for that!

334 days. That’s supposed to be a piece of cake. I’ve already been with my family 8,395+ days, I can spare 334, right?

Lately I’ve been relating to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days when Andy is trying to get rid of Ben and she flips the switch and gets all crazy crying over a love fern and what not. J Ben says it perfect, “you're up you're down you're here you're there you're like a freaking one woman circus, Andy…”

You won’t find me crying over a love fern, but you will see me sitting with my stomach growling so loud the neighbor’s can hear because I’m thinking of grams strawberry cake, or McAlister’s sweet tea, or Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (yes!), or fried okra (oh my goodness!). Yes, I didn’t sign up for the race with the intention of listening to my stomach growl or to start having dreams of running through fields of Macaroni & Cheese.

You will, however, find me crying at random places, random times, for no apparent reason because my heart is aching to be reunited with the 6 women and 2 men that are sitting in Oklahoma right now, growing older with each passing day, who have stood by me my whole life and can read me like a book and can snap me out of a funk in a matter of minutes. EEEEK, I miss you!

Yes, this kind of homesickness is something I completely didn’t expect.

This living overseas, thousands and thousands of miles from my earthly home, it’s tough! Giving up everything you know to walk in the path God has called me to; not easy! Having absolutely no idea what is going to come of me when I get plopped back into American society; God it’s all you on that one.

“My soul longs for You,
My soul longs for You,
Nothing else will do,
Nothing else will do.

I believe You will calm like the rain,
I believe You will calm like the rain,
I believe You will calm like the rain,
I believe You will calm like the rain.

[I know the rain is coming,
I see the cloud, it’s coming.
I believe You’re pouring out,
It’s going to rain]

LET IT RAIN!”
