….at least that’s what was advertised!

*note: this blog has nothing to do with ministry this month, it’s strictly a tribute to how well our men serve and honor our women to their best abilities. Read along…

On Feb. 12 we were presented the invitation to probably one of the sweetest, most thought out Valentine’s Day celebration I’ve ever had.

When the day came, Feb. 14th, everyone woke up and we ate French toast and eggs and there was just a spirit in the air, ‘this is a holiday’, this day is more special than any other day. The boys were MIA most of the day, sporadically coming in taking plates, glasses, the mixer J it was quite amusing, so the ladies got to listen to cheesy love songs all day and finish up writing any last minute Valentine’s.

7 o’clock rolled around and all the ladies were showered and dressed and made up and patiently awaiting….

There was a knock on the door, alas one of our ‘dates’ arrived to beckoned his women. (yes, womEn not womAn, men are scarce around these parts)

One after another the men poured in presenting their ‘lady’ or ‘ladies’ [homemade] flowers.

Alas, my knight in shining armor finally arrived in all his glory.

The one and only, Dustin Mick Dills:

He made an offer I couldn’t refuse…

and from that day forward, I became the proud owner of my very own homemade flower.

After being escorted across the street, we made it safely to the men’s house. The house was decked out in true World Race fashion, toilet paper streamers. not only that, they had cut them into the shape of hearts, it was adorable. (Not adorable, I meant it was the ‘Bulls Balls’ inside joke for any 220/SOLID/PUSH member reading this)

After arriving we were presented crackers and drinks. We were asked to sit while Tim and Francis performed us a special Valentine’s Day song. (You’ll have to watch the video at the end, it’s hilarious)

After being serenaded they had prepared a feast for us. Potatoes, sausage, some Romanian concoction shown below, it was delish.

They served us our dinner and we laughed and told stories about bad Valentine’s Day experiences or just bad dates in general.

Since things were winding down we thought the night was coming to an end, but to our surprise the guys had one more performance up their sleeves.

‘The Dating Game’

Francis was the host and Tim was the bachelor seeking out a woman.

The contestants came out one by one, ‘Char, Kip, & Ann’.

They were asked a series of questions and Tim had to come to a final decision as to which contest he’d want to go on a one-on-one with. …he ended up choosing all of them. 🙂

Alas, all the planned events had come to an end. The girls were escorted back to their house, bellies full and hearts happy, valentine’s in hand.

We concluded the night as a family and invited John Travolta and Olivia Newton John to entertain us.

They told us it was going to be ‘The Bestest, Most Incredible, hands down, never been done before, Valentine’s Day Extravaganza, blowout, World Race Celebration Ever!’ and they executed it to completion.

Thank you men for serving and loving us all so well. A day that I normally wake up dreading and counting the hours until it’s over will became a memory that I’ll never forget.
