So after we left our ministry site, we met up with the rest of the teams in Noordhoek. You may have seen some of the amazing photos I took of the beach on my facebook, most likely they were all during that time when we were all together. One thing our squad leaders did during that time was team changes. It happens a couple of times throughout the race and we aren’t sure when or if it’ll happen again in the future but we knew it would be happening this month. So mentally we were all prepared yet freaked out, excited, nervous, etc.

So the second day they gave us a paper with our new teammates names on them and asked us to spend a few hours reflecting and praying and processing your new team. I loved it. We have a rule on the race you can’t go anywhere by yourself. So those 2 hours were like heaven to me. ANYWAY. My old team, Team S.O.L.I.D. (Spreading Out Life In Da’nations) has now been restructured; we lost Britni (my fellow Oklahoman) and gained Tim Eisman  (previously on Team Nikao) and Ashley Edwards (previously on L.O.L., Ladies Of Light)

So collectively we make up what is now Team 2:20. Our name is derived from Galatians 2:20.

We’re currently located in Beira, Mozambique starting our first month of ministry together at Kedesh Orphanage. It’s a boys orphanage with 30ish boys all ranging from age 8-18.  The founder is a 53 year old American, named John, he’s been here 18 years. His colleague, Heather is from England and has been here 3 years.

Besides working with the boys, there are numerous projects underway that we’ll be tackling.  Widows house, chicken coop, sewing, chair building, gardening (all the boys have their own garden), I want to teach the boys how to sketch/draw. They’re on ‘summer break’(funny cause in the states its winter) so they’ll be home all day while we’re here.  John has just acquired power tools so currently all the boys are building chairs.

Overall, I’m totally stoked, but then again I’ve only been here a little over 24 hours.
