Hello!

As you may have seen, my name’s Kim Wilson, a 26 year old who resides in Abilene, TX. Since I have announced my participation in the World Race, many of you have asked questions about what the World Race is and what I’m gonna be doing. I really want to take some time to explain what’s happening, answer those questions, and give you a few tidbits.

Starting in January, my team and I are taking a certain route “around the world.” This route begins in the Ivory Coast and Ghana and then brings us to Asia. While there, we’ll be in India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. After that, we’ll head to Central America to visit Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. I’ll be in each country listed above for one month at a time! During these months, we’ll listen to God, love people, and meet needs. Good stuff!

While all of those essentials are great, I want to let you in on a secret. I love travel, mission work and most adventure, but that’s not why I picked the World Race! It really came down to a few things – my obedience, my desires, and my questions.

It took time for me to work through some doubts that I’d entertained, even after God had made it clear over years that His plan included missions. I almost hit a point of giving up and doing other things; however, God is faithful! He used others, circumstances, and desires to help direct me where He really wanted. Like a loving parent, He put His hand on my back to say, “This way, Kim. We’re going this way TOGETHER.” He’s amazing!

As my doubts dissipated and my confidence grew, my heart for the nations had room to finally grow.

And that’s where the rubber meets the road! The above picture helps illustrate the tools God used to mold me. There are many more! But He used a prayer guide for the nations, a book geared for “roughing-it” medical care, His word, and an incredible story of a missionary to mold my heart and thinking for missions.

One particular place began to stand out as God developed these practices. India! I asked some big and even weird things of Him to help guide my heart in this process, and it seemed doors just weren’t opening. At that point, I decided to drop everything and stop actively looking at organizations/places to go with to India.

This was crucial! God used that time to help reveal some amazing questions that lingered within. What does missions look like long-term for me? Am I only meant for one country? Can I just take time to figure these things out with Him? What can I do to just grow in Him and hear what He has to say? What if I took a year to do just that?

As I asked and prayed, I knew it was time to find some answers and just go. The World Race practically fell into my lap! That’s a good thing because they’re an organization invested in shaping and cultivating individuals to grow in their relationship with Christ and to answer His call. It has ended up being the perfect combination of how God is meeting me to answer questions, bring greater clarity, and also achieve His mission. He listened to my heart’s cry and answered perfectly because He’s the only one who can make a way when it seems impossible and do it lovingly.

If you would like to keep up with me on this new adventure with God, then please subscribe to this blog. I am also looking for people to partner with me as I answer the call of missions. If you’re interested in partnering with me through prayer, please send an email to the address listed on my contact page. If you’d like to support me financially, you can do so here on my blog by pressing the donate button.

I’d love to hear from you and answer questions you may have so feel free to leave some comments if you want!

From my heart to yours,

Kim
