"My mom used to be Christian but now is Budist. Does that mean she will not go to heaven?"

I was sitting with my new friend in her village shop during our daily one-on-one. We stared discussing what Nicodemus meant in John 3 when he questioned the meaning of "being born again." We talked about what it means to have the Holy Spirit inside of us and when people claim to be a Christian but don't act like one. Then the question came up.

"My mom used to be Christian. She was baptized and everything but now has decided to be Budist. Does that mean she will not go to heaven?"

I froze for a split second. I knew I was confident in my faith so I could not let the fear of rejection stop me from telling the truth in love.

We discussed how only God knows our hearts. We talked about the prodigal son and how it is never too late to come back to Jesus. He is always with us and is waiting eagerly with open arms for when we will return home. We also talked about how important it is to share our faith with others around us.

As the conversation wrapped up, she told me how she wanted to talk to her mom again. She has hope for her and will not give up. This brought me hope for her family and community.

I was reminded of walking in truth and confidence. I know the Holy Spirit gave me the words in my mouth and the peace in my heart to speak the truth.

I am officially in month 5 of the Race! I am in a small village, just outside of Phnom Pen, Cambodia. Our ministry for our time here is helping to teach English, play with the village kids, lead worship nights, meet with locals one-on-one to talk about Jesus and life, and help out around the mission base/farm. It is so peaceful being in nature and away from the busyness of the city.

We just finished month 4 debrief and had team changes. I am pleased to introduce you to team Rooted! I already love these girls! The names from left to right are:

Julie, Kailaa, Lindsay, Amy, Me, and Mariah. Please be in prayer for our team, health and ministry.

Thanks!
