A lot has happened in that past few weeks and so I thought I would do a quick update:

I didn’t blog much in Nicaragua (oops). It was similar to all the other Latin American countries, so there wasn’t much surprise in the fact that the houses are made out of tin, there are stray dogs running around everywhere and the people are extremely poor. As I have mentioned in a previous blog, Guatemala and Nicaragua together really made me appreciate the little things we do have in America. The laundry system in Nicaragua requires water, detergent, a wash basin and physical labor. All in all I would have to say Nicaragua was great, despite the heat and the gnarly bug bites all over my body (i’ll get to that later).

We celebrated my birthday in Nicaragua. I will always remember it, we had brownies and ice cream for breakfast.

We left Nicaragua on July 30th and headed for Boston for a layover before we all fly to Ireland. We arrive in Boston and my team is the only team flying on a separate flight to Ireland. Long story short, our flight got canceled, all the other options didn’t work out, my team was stressed, but we knew God didn’t want us to get on a plane to Ireland for a reason.

Well the reason being was because the next day I ended up having to get checked into the ER at Bringham and Women’s Hospital. The bug bites I had were infected and it began infecting the rest of my body. Cori stayed behind with me and my mom who was so kind as to fly out to Boston to be with me. Cori and I never made it to Ireland with the rest of the squad, we just met them at the Dublin Airport a few days later on a layover to Romania.

We’ve been in Romania for about a week now.  In regards to the bug bites, I’m feeling much better and I look a lot better as well. This week we haven’t been up to too much. We’ve been sorting through a lot of clothes that we’ll be using for a Flea Market at the end of the month. If you’d like to see a video (its pretty funny) you can watch my teammate’s video on her blog:
