The other week I was sitting in my counselor’s office and talking to her about all that has been going on in my life lately which includes starting CrossFit within the last month. As we were talking she mentioned how what I was talking about would make a good blog… so here it is.
Have you ever thought about how working out relates to life? well until recently neither had I, but that all changed when I started going to CrossFit.
24 Hour Fitness/Living life on your own
– You don’t have anyone to guide you as navigate the tough times and new situations
– You don’t have someone cheering you on as you figure new things out
– You don’t have anyone there to motivate you to do better and get stronger
– You are stuck trying to figure out the new things that come your way on your own
– You don’t have a community around you that wants to see you succeed and grow
CrossFit/Living life in Community
– You have coaches to guide you through the new movements (and even the old ones if you aren’t doing them correctly)
– You always have someone around you (since they are group classes), which in turn
- Motivates you to try harder, because you see someone else succeeding
- You always have someone (coach or classmate) encouraging you to push harder and get through the workout
– You learn new thing every time you attend class
– When you feel like giving up, there is someone there to cheer you on and help you make it through the workout
Now which of the above situations sounds like the better option for living life?
I don’t know about you, but all to often I find myself trying to live life like I’m in a 24 Hour Fitness world – alone, because I think I can do it all on my own. I am now trying to live life in a CrossFit world – with people around me who support me and want to see me succeed. I know there will still be times when I revert back to the 24 Hour way of life, but my goal is to live life most of the time in a CrossFit like world.
