As I am sitting here in the heart of Bangkok Thailand I am in utter awe of all the God has done so far on The Race!
Month One he literally led us to the LARGEST Protestant church in Indonesia to partner with for the month! While in Bogor, out main ministry was to interact with the youth in the church, but we also got the huge blessing of just being with the adults and encouraging them in their faith (it’s hard to be a Christian in a predominantly Muslim nation). Any time we told the story of how we got to Bogor they were amazed that God literally led us to them and their church. They we a huge blessing to us as well… they allowed us to stay in their guest house (attached to the smaller church) and continually blessed us by taking us on adventure days to the Botanical Gardens and a Waterfall.
In Indonesia is where God also began to tear me down (in a loving way) so that he could really build me back up into who he created me to be. He began to show me the lies I was believing were truth from the enemy (we still working on not believing those lies) and instead focusing on and believing the truth about who he says I am (yep still working on this too)
Month One was hard, because it was all about learning how to live in community and letting people in and allowing them to fight for me (again, we still working on this). Living in good community is a new thing for me, because in the past anytime I have lived in community it wasn’t good and I hated it, but the Lord is showing me how awesome it can be to live in healthy community and allow others to be right there fighting with me (two or more are stronger than one when fighting the enemy).
Month Two we were in Manila with a Ministry called Kids International Ministries. While we were there our focus was to help expand their feeding ministry. With their feeding ministry they go out into the community with tubs of food and literally feed the kids a hot meal, but not only do they feed the kids physically, they feed the spiritually as well. During these feedings they also teach a bible lesson/story and play games with the kids, and then they go walk around the community and pray for anyone they meet.
What KIM wanted our help with while there was to go out and find new churches/communities to partner with to put on a feeding program in their community, KIM would train and equip the pastors with all they needed to cook the food for the feedings. So the first Saturday we did and ATL (Ask The Lord) prayer walk in small groups all around Manila. We found many churches who were interested in beginning a feeding program for their community, some expressed that the way to get to the adults was by feeding the kids. The next Saturday we got to go back out to some of the churches/pastors and either put on a feeding or talk to them more about what the feeding program would entail. On our final saturday we once again went out into Manila to find some more churches to partner with (some communities had a huge need for a feeding program, but had no church/pastor to host the feeding).
In The Philippines God called me deeper into tearing down the lies of the enemy that I cling to because I have believed them to be truth for so long. My Squad Mentor Stacy called me out on many occasions and said some tough to hear, yet things I really did need to hear. He also deepened the truth’s he began speaking to me back in month one… 1. He has always been there, will always be there, and there is nothing I can do to change that 2. The issue of my worth was settled on The Cross 3. Jesus died for me and even if I had been the only one on earth he still would have died for me, because he loves me that much.
God also asked me to do some stuff that for me is hard 1. Give up my phone until the end of Thailand (at least… it could end up being longer) 2. Give up Facebook/Instagram (except to post blogs) -this is going to be happening as soon as I finish typing and posting this blog – so if you want to stay in touch be sure to subscribe to this blog and email me at ([email protected]) anytime you want) 3. To truly grieve the “loss” of KSquad (my original squad) – I am still working on this one, because how do grieve and let go of something that helped make you who you are today? and people who have cheered you on through one of the hardest times in your life and are still cheering you on while you are across the world doing what God has called you to?
Now I am sitting here in the heart of Bangkok Thailand (literally – one of our host’s says that we are literally right where they write Bangkok on a map) on day 3 of Month 3. I am excitedly and nervously awaiting what The Lord is going to do in and through me this month. I know that there are going to be tough and hard times, but there are also going to be some really amazing and sweet moments as well.
FUNDRAISING UPDATE!!!!
As I sit here across the world in Bangkok Thailand, I am also working on getting Fully Funded for the remainder of my Race (the final deadline is April 30, which is just over ONE month away) and I am $4,842 away from that goal.
If all of my friends on Facebook (minus the ones currently on The Race) and everyone who reads this blog donated just $10 I would be Fully Funded… all you would have to give up in order for this to happen is a day or two of treating yourself to Starbucks or one lunch eaten out.
Would you prayerfully consider donating to my Race (by clicking on the Donate button at the top of this blog) and help me get Fully Funded so that I can continue doing what I know God has called me to?
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Thanks for taking the time to read this blog!!
