The final push for me to commit to the World Race was because of a friendship I had with one of the cutest, kindest, most generous person I have ever met, Ms. Virginia. She was an elderly woman that I had the honor and privilege to care for her in her most vulnerable state. I loved caring for her. Even when she moved to a different home, I still tried to visit her as often as I could. Virginia was someone who followed the Lord. Even though her memory would fail her at times, I would find her saying her prayers. Through Virginia I had the great opportunity to meet her family, who are also strong Christians. Sadly, Virginia passed away this fall and is now with the Lord. Her family and I have still keep in contact. Virginia’s granddaughter is a World Race alumnus and has been a huge encouragement and support as I am now starting the World Race. Getting to know Virginia’s daughter and granddaughter has been such a blessing. I have been given all of her gear – backpack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc. for free! These items are not included in my fundraising budget so to have them be given to me for free and in great condition is crazy amazing! I can’t just say this was a coincidence that my friendship with Virginia turned out this way. The Lord provides! Too often we put God in a box and limit our views on his power. No longer do I say “it’s so ironic” or “it’s a coincidence”. God is sovereign. I believe that it is God’s will for me to go on this trip. I am learning to trust the Lord in everything.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

During this stage of fundraising, I am trusting the Lord. When I start thinking about how much money I need to raise or how I only know a few people, I stop myself. I am trying to understand things that I have no control over and only God has total control over. It has only been a month since I sent out my support letters and I have already raised over $5,000! Wow! People’s faith in God’s promise and even their faith that I can carry out his commandments is a blessing and encouragement. This makes me even more excited for October. I want to give the Lord credit for it all. It’s not because of me that people give, but because of his promise of grace, truth and love. He commands us to go to the nations and preach the good news.

Thank you so much to all who have given!  For those who are supporting me through prayer, thank you! I have been so encouraged. I am praying for each and every one of you!

Love you all!

Kim
