We are all so excited for the official beginning of our ministry next week. In many ways, it has already begun. Last night, we got to hear a great testimony from my team mate Jake and our leader Chad. The went out to take care of some business at the immigration office, and to finalize some details for our upcoming accomodations. The leaders had gotten together the night before to pray about it, and one of the girls propheied that somebody would accept Jesus at the immigration office.
While Chad and Jake were inside making arrangements, their local contact was talking to one of the police who was and old friend of his. It was somebody he used to party with before he became a Christian. The man immediately noticed that his friend was very different than before. He asked him what had changed, so our contact told him about how he has accepted Christ and was know living for him. The man immediately exclaimed, I want what you have. How can I know this Jesus? So right there in the parking lot of the immigration office, he accepted Jesus as his Lord. Amazing!
When they were ready to leave, the officer asked if he could introduce them to somebody. I think he took them to his house, and there was a little girl there who had a bad fever and was very sick. They all gathered around and prayed for her, and she got a huge grin on her face and started hugging them before runnig off to play. God had taken away her fever.
After that, they were taken to two other people to pray, and they were also healed. I can´t remember all of the details of the story, so if you are interested, please look on Jake´s blog page to see if he wrote about it.
Jake was so excited when he was telling the story. Gary joked that it was the first time he has actually seen a mexican jumping bean, because Jake was bouncing all over the room. On their way back to the school, Jake asked Chad if the whole year is going to be like this, because there is no way he is ever going back to a desk now.
The truth is, we all know there is more to life than what we have been living. Those of us on this race, set out to discover what that is. Jesus offered us not only life, but life abundant. The abundant life is living in the freedom and power that He made available to us. We don´t have to take it any more than we had to accept salvation. We could just be content knowing that we are not going to hell, and make out way through life trying to make ourselves more content. Or, we can take the whole package, and be a part of bringing the Kingdom of Heaven here to earth. We can make a difference in the lives of orphans and widows, and the poor and the weak, the oppressed and the lost. You can fight in the army, or sit in the courtyard. I choose to fight.
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on eath as it is in Heaven. Amen.
