And The Winner Is…
Team Agapetos has risen to the challenge in more way than one.
Not only did we win the Hong Kong leg of the race,
but we also took first place for the entire year (at least on B squad)!
Woo Hoo!
You can guess what this means.
After the race, AIM surprised us with tickets to Disney Land Hong Kong.

and of course some classic rides like the tea cups and space mountain.
We were also introduced to a new mode of economy transportation – the sleeper train.
At least you have a place to lay down and sleep,
but 36 hours in a very confined space was challenging for even the most patient people.
Oddly enough, you begin to get so used to the motion that you wake up whenever the train stops.
Agapetos and Revolution decided to camp overnight at the lake on one of weekends.
It was beautiful, but also very cold. You might even say frosty – literally.
Our tents were a little crunchy by morning.
We had some locals join us unannounced.
It was so cold that we spent most of the evening standing by the fire.
It even snowed a little during the day while we were hiking around.
I don’t think us girls will be repeating that too soon.
At least no without having better gear and being more prepared.
I had to do aerobics in my bag all night to keep from freezing.
Needless to say, I never actually slept at all.
Next Stop – Beijing.
We all stopped in Beijing for a few days to see the Great Wall
and a few other things before heading back to Hong Kong.
We had some free time to explore Hong Kong a little more during debrief.
We took the Peak Tram to this lookout over Hong Kong Island.
The entire harbor lights up every night for a laser light show
performed from the many high-rises near the waterfront.
We gathered along the harbor many nights just to enjoy good company with a good view.
All three squads enjoyed a night together for BBQ and our awards ceremony.
It was a great time to hang out with the C squad and begin our long good-byes.
All of the January racers got dressed up for our year end banquet.
It was nice to put aside the rags and see each other shine.
And for the people who shaped our lives over these last 15 months (since training camp).
We got to say final good-byes to our mentors and teachers; at least good-bye for now.
I plan on seeing more of them in the not to far future.
Thank you guys so much for all you stand for and all you fight for. We love you.
(we missed you Mo)
And of course Seth and Karen who left early.
It was a great month, and a great end to a great year.
But all of this is only the beginning to and even greater future,
so stay tuned to see what comes next.
To be continued…
