After weeks of frustration and feeling like I was getting nowhere, God let me see the light. It came immediately after spending a day on a rock, pouring out my heart to Him.

When I went to see Pilar the very next day, it was different. I trusted what God had told me, and I pressed harder. I asked the questions instead of answering hers.

I asked her if she knew what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. This lead into a very long discussion that lead into the Ten Commandments. We discussed idols; what they are and what God says about them. She shared a story about a strong idol in their community. It went somenthing like this…

There was a young girl that went walking up in the woods alone and hurt herself. An woman came along to help her, and then asked her to bring flowers back to her. The girl returned daily to the woman bringing flowers to honor her. The local people became curious and asked where she was taking all of the flowers. When the girl told them the story, they went to chase the woman away. When they tried to capture her, the woman turned to stone. The people were amazed, and began to worship the stone woman. They said that when they prayed to her, she preformed miracles. Later, another girl had a dream that she was going to die in a car accident. She was affraid, so she went to worship the stone idol. The next day, her taxi had an accident and everybody died but her. The people believed that the idol had saved her. They moved the stone idol into the Catholic church where it supposedly still is today.

We talked for a while about the devil being disguised as an angel of light, and how he is a deceiver. While we were talking, Pastor Josue walked up and joined the conversation. He talked for her for a while, and shared a lot of scriptures with her. At the end, he asked her if she wanted to receive Christ (he did not know that she had done that the day I met her). Much to my surprise and delight, she said “No, I have already done that”. That answer thrilled me because it showed me that she understood that she is saved, and that she does not have to repeat the prayer as Catholics often do. She got it. Praise God!

After that day, she was very different. I decided it was time to give her a Christian Bible, so I wrote a letter in it and had one of the translaters re-write it in Spanish for her. She was delighted at the gift and wrote me a letter in return.

She has come to visit me everyday since then; sometimes more than once. It is hard for both of us to say goodbye. We said our final goodbyes this morning. Trusting that if God is willing, we will see eachother again some day. Knowing, that we will be reunited for eternity.

Please pray for her and Danila and the other girls; that they will continue to grow in their knowledge and love of Christ and that they will have somebody to continue to teach and disciple them. I go in faith that God will finish the work He started.
