Last weekend on our break, some of the team members met and amazing couple here in Costa Rica.
Lyle and Stacey have a coffee shop in Tamarindo, praise God. They have generously opened their cafe as a place to meet and sleep during our days off. They have been amazing to talk to and have been such a blessing to us.
Their ministry originally started as a church service in a restuarant, but it quickly became evident that there isn’t many people looking for a church in Tamarindo.
Refusing to give up, they sought a new strategy. That is when the coffee shop came into the picture. The current vision is to build relationships in the community through the business and through community outreach. Once some relationships have been started and the seeds have been planted, the chuch plant should fall into place.
One of the other asepects of their vision is to provide a way for other Christians to plug in. They are looking to host interns that will spend approximately 24 hours a week working in the coffee shop, and another 15 hours or so doing community outreach and services. Some of those opportunities include surf ministry, environmental projects and numerous other avenues.
