Our transition from Asia to Africa was a big one. We no longer had a squad leader from outside H Squad with us, so we were completely on our own. Going into Africa we had no transportation set up. As a squad we huddled for warmth in JoBurg with the new cold temperatures. Then once we got to Nelspruit, South Africa we had to wait. Things were difficult for a reason. God wanted our squad to move from thinking as individual teams into thinking as a squad; and even more than that, as a family. We laughed and played together; we fasted and feasted together and our bonds grew tighter. We had to have everything in common as our budget grew smaller and smaller because of the expensive travel in Africa. I am appreciative of that time.
The rest of this month SKIM has been continuing to grow closer as a family. We have eaten together, traveled together, worshiped together, prayed for each other and with each other and really enjoyed Africa together. Family is something we have become. It wasn’t because AIM told us, “this is your family for the next year,” it was because God has brought us to this point. I am so grateful for what God has done in all of our lives to bring us here. I think I am just at the beginning of understanding how the believers in Acts 2:42-47 felt…and there is so much more to come this year!
