In the last few weeks a large part of my job has been to support coach the September squads. I have watched day after day as the deadline has gotten closer and closer. Some participants were able to tell me with certainty that they had money from family or friends on the way. But there were others that had no idea how the money was going to come in to be able to leave for the Race.
There was not much I could do on my end. I talked to many participants, believing with them that this is what God has called them to. With that knowledge, a certainty that God would provide was always a present reality. I prayed constantly for these participants, pleading with God to show off, like He loves to do! I reminded people, prayed with them and encouraged them to not give up praying, asking and waiting for God to show us how big he truly is.
Days went by, and each day my inbox was sprinkled with emails of God’s provision. When the time was getting really short a few participants were left with large amounts still needing to come in. God is so faithful, he unites in times like these! The squad quickly started blogging, emailing, and Facebook messaging everyone they knew to help these people reach the deadlines they needed to reach. The squad members themselves were a large part of the funds coming into the accounts of those who desperately needed it!
In the end, only one person was not able to go. He says that the timing wasn’t right. Not only did he have the deadline to reach, but he had other bills to pay and a few other pressing matters in his life that needed him to stay. Through the process he has learned so much about the love that this squad has had for him. He has a World Race family that has supported him and met his needs. He plans to continue following that squad and supporting them with encouragement!
Every other person on each of the squads who were needing funds to come in met the deadline. It has been such a great time of seeing God’s faithfulness! He is so faithful to provide what we need in His exact timing! Many of the participants are fully funded. Pray with me that the rest of the people needing to be fully funded will meet that mark soon. We want every participant to be able to go and give of themselves fully without having to worry about support raising while on the field!
