When I was out of town last weekend, Candi and I spent one of the days in Chicago. We had plans to go to see Wicked, then to go to the Cheesecake Factory and then to meet up with some friends for cosmic bowling. Candi and I have very different personalities. She is very go-with-the-flow, whatever happens happens. Though I can be like that at times, in situations like last Saturday I need a plan. We took the train into the city and needed to get to the Oriental Theater. We discussed walking, taking the L, or taking a cab. It drove me crazy that I could have planned a route beforehand, but I didn’t. We ended up taking a cab and fortunately it didn’t cost us our entire life savingsJ. After we saw Wicked (which was amazing!!!) we went to the Cheesecake Factory. Candi knew it was in the John Hancock building, but we weren’t sure how far it was. Before I knew it she was asking someone for directions and we headed out for the mile walk. She did that the rest of the night; whenever we needed something she was quick to ask someone. I tend to be the type of person that walks in circles before asking someone for directions. I really don’t know why; everyone we talked to was very helpful and looked very pleased that they could help someone.

That day made me wonder why I was made to be a team leader. We are going to be in so many situations like last Saturday, but it will be even more difficult because of language barriers. Then God reminded me that I’m not doing this on my own. I’m not a tour guide and I don’t have to have all of the answers. I have a wonderful team that is blessed with many different strengths. I can’t wait to discover how each individual will contribute in their own unique way to our team. God has put me in this position, so I know that I will be able to carry it out as I lean on him. Pray for me, though, I do have a larger responsibility as team leader.

My team is Team Indelible. Indelible means making marks that cannot be removed or forgotten. God has left an indelible mark on each of our lives and we want to go out making indelible marks for the glory of God. More than that, we want everyone we have left an indelible mark on to go out and leave indelible marks on the people they meet! God is about multiplication. In Acts 13:47-49 Luke tells us, “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. The word of the Lord spread through the whole region.
