Notes from training camp (Part 2)

“Do you believe that when you speak things happen?” A man asked me that one of the nights while everyone was praying. I thought about it then replied, “…Yes…but I doubt.” He then prayed for me and told me that I would speak truth into the lives of people. The next day when telling of why I was part of the world race The Paschall’s told me that I would not only see many miracles and wonderful acts of God, but that I would be part of them, that I would lay my hands on people and pray for them and that God would heal them! I have read all of the stories in the Bible; stories of healing, casting out demons, the blind being able to see, the deaf being able to hear, etc. Could this be true for me, though? I’m just me, nothing extraordinarily special. But wait! There is something extraordinarily special about me… the Holy Spirit, God in me!

How could I forget the time when God healed me? When I was very young I had a disease called Candida. The doctors didn’t know what it was and were still working on a cure for it. I had it for a year and a half. Painful, itchy rashes covered my entire body. I would wake up in the morning with blood covered sheets from itching all night. I could not eat yeast or sugar, which would ignite the rashes. My parents were at the end of their selves. By God’s grace the only two memories I have from that time in my life are good memories. The first was when my parents took me in front of my church and the pastor placed anointing oil on my forehead and all together my church prayed for my complete healing. The other memory I have is the day that I was healed soon after the prayer of my church. I was sitting in my room and my mom came in and held me and we prayed a joyous prayer of thankfulness to our great God. The cure for Candida was not discovered for many years and the doctors were astounded by the miracle. God healed me at that time so that I would be a testimony to His healing and might. He will use me as a tool of healing, not so that people will remember the person who laid their hands on them and prayed for them, but so that they will know the God who heals and who deserve all praise, glory and honor!
