Last night was our first night out in the bars. We were told it would be overwhelming, but I was not overwhelmed. We all split up into groups of 3 or more. I was with Rachel and Rebecca. I guess I have been in bars too many times in my life because the atmosphere was a normal bar atmosphere, except outside with streets and streets of open bars linked together. People lined the streets with advertisements of why we should go to their bar. Girls sat in the bars waving and pleading for us to come over. We were taken to what was supposed to be a spiritually easy street. It was a slower night because it poured down rain about an hour before we left and had just stopped when we arrived. I know that God sent that rain so that we would have a better opportunity to talk to the girls. When we split Rachel felt like we should go talk to a girl who was sitting at the corner of a bar and looked very sad. She was doing advertising for one of the closed bars. We had a good conversation with her and met her brother, who had the same job as her. We then moved on to another bar where we played a nail game with one of the girls. We had fun but she was a little more reluctant to talk, her English seemed to be not as good. We then moved on to the third bar where two girls dragged us over. One was very bubbly and friendly and the other was very sad and lost. We played Jackpot and Connect Four for a while. At 11pm we left to meet back up with the rest of the teams. The things that stuck out to me were:
- The obvious sadness in the girls
- The casual and blunt way sex was talked about
- The amount of children that were out
- The loneliness of most of the male sex tourists
- The openness of the girls about not liking their job
- How aggressive some men were about showing off pictures of nakedness☹
- How easy it was to become acquainted with the girls-on our way to becoming friends!
