We were able to take a day to go out to an island. It was about an hours boat ride there. There were 14 of us total, everyone else stayed back at Jaco’s for a day of rest there. We arrived at this island that was pretty much empty. There were a few houses that lined the shore, but other than that, it is uninhabited. The current was too strong to go snorkeling right away, so Noah, Di and I walked around the island. It took about 1 1/2 hours. When we got back we went snorkeling for about an hour. The fish were amazing! The rocks to get out to the water were very sharp and everyone got scraped up. Fortunately I only got a little scratch on my leg; unfortunately I got stung twice by a jellyfish…it wasn’t bad, it only felt like a mild rug burn. The rest of the time I spent relaxing in the water. We had an amazing lunch…fish, chicken, crab legs, bread, salad, rice, stew, pineapple, oranges, and bananas…such a good meal for the race!!! Oh the life of a missionary! We sailed back instead of using the motor…it was really nice. It felt really good to get the amount of exercise that we got too:) Enjoying the beauty of God’s creation is something I have appreciated so much around the world!
