I wanted to send you an update before I go to training camp. There have been a few changes that have happened in the past week that I wanted you to know about. Some June racers have recently either dropped out of the race or moved to later races. Since there are fewer racers on the June squad the need for three squad leaders is not as necessary. On the other hand, they are having a hard time finding enough squad leaders for the July squad. When I talked to Caroline (AIM staff) and she asked me to pray about leading the July squad instead, I had to laugh. During the race I learned that nothing is certain until it happens, until then just expect something to change! I guess I had fallen back into feeling certain about the direction I was going, because it was a surprise to me.
When I had first prayed about becoming a squad leader I knew that it was something I wanted to do, but I was uncertain about when. When I prayed about it I wanted God to tell me June, July, September or October, but the more I prayed the less certain I became. The only thing I was certain about was that squad leading was what God was calling me to. I was very excited to lead the June squad and became even more excited when I started reading blogs and getting to know them in their writings.
I knew almost immediately that switching to the July squad was what I needed to do, but I was very disappointed about not getting to be June’s squad leader. I have become very attached to all of them already. The night I talked to Caroline, I had to grieve the thought of leaving them, even though I haven’t met them yet. I will still get to meet them at training camp, but then our lives will go in different directions.
My race route now will be closer to my original race route. We will launch in Haiti, then go to the Dominican Republic. I will still get to participate in the Awakening conference in Ireland, but we will not be ministering in Ireland for the month. I am excited to get to go to Haiti, it was something that was really on my heart when the earthquake hit, but the timing wasn’t right. I am also looking forward to going back to the Dominican Republic, it was one of my favorite ministries, and I can’t wait for my new squad to experience it. For now, I will leave you with only that information. Since I will be going to training camp this next week I will find out the answers to some of the questions I have and I will fill you in with all the details when I get back!
Thank you so much for all of your prayer! Please keep me and the June and July squads in your prayers as we head to training camp! It will be an intense week!
