The legacy of Jesus’ work in my life began way before my actual existence. He used so many things to bring us to where we are today. Its like the butterfly effect except the God effect.
“We did it, Kimberly. We did it” she said this weekend, coupled with “I am so very proud of you!” Words spoken from my own very special mom this weekend at my graduation. You see my mom is my biggest supporter in life, she always has been. And We really did do it, because we’ve been kind of a tag team duo for a while.
In the beginning, people told my young mom all that she couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to do. Being a teenage mother under tragic circumstances beyond her control, she had a lot to deal with. They told her she should just drop out of high school, she should just give up. Her, nor her baby would ever amount to anything anyways. But my mama is the strongest person I know, because iron sharpens iron, and she took those can’ts and turned them into cans! She made straight As, went to college, worked hard, and got her degree. Once people saw she wasn’t letting them get her down, she found others rooting for her, and me. Everybody loves and underdog, and to really witness the power of human resilience. We rose up out of the ashes of our circumstances, refusing to be victimized, and have now become heroes of our own story, which will always be my second favorite, to the story of Jesus. It is because of Jesus that we made it this far and why our lives have been so blessed. Things were hardly easy but we kept Jesus at the center of our lives, and he faithfully brought us through the storm. My mom inspires me every day and I hope my life and our story continues to inspires others, as I know it already has.
So the moral of the story is: keep Jesus at the center of your life. Things will not always be easy, but he will guide you through it. I promise!! He has a far bigger plan for your life than you know.
