We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip.  Here is what I’m expecting…

I know that while I’m expecting certain things while in the field, there are so many that I could not possibly prepare for.
So I’ll do my best to tell you what I expect…
   – to miss my family, friends & church family
   – to be homesick
   – that I’ll be making lifelong friends who will become family
   – to lose weight (I’m not an adventurous eater at all!!)
   – to have curly, frizzy hair and that it will most likely be in a permanent ponytail
   – to see things that I will not understand or like but to also see beautiful things between others
   – to see God at work
   – to be broken
   – for God to put me back together
   – to be vulnerable
   – to get lost a few times along the way – literally (where is that village??)
   – to have a language barrier and will have to depend on God’s language of love
   – to be changed
   – to fall in love with the lost, broken, orphan and widow
   – that the unexpected will happen and our best laid plans may not work

In each situation my only hope and desire is to be God’s Hands and Feet and when I’m at my lowest or at my best that I glorify HIM through it all!
