Hello. I am here in Panajachel, Guatemala. I am so thankful that God chose me for this adventure. Last year, I never would have imagined I would be in Guatemala. It is amazing how God uses each and everyone of us. When we first got here, we were not really sure what we were going to do. We (the blue team and yellow team) met a lovely lady named Sharon who runs a non-profit organization called Poco Poco. We learned that Hurricane Stan hit this area last October and devestated most of Panajachel. We watched a video and immediately I knew I was in the right place. After living in Florida and experiencing a few hurricanes myself, I knew that I could relate and had a lot to offer. The day after watching the video some of us girls went house to house and met the families that lost a lot in the Hurricane. We compiled a list of what was needed. We had so many families to visit that it took two days. My heart hurts!!! These people need so much and do not have the means to help themselves. Kids are sleeping on cardboard boxes in houses with caving in roofs. One family with 3 children split a tortilla and had glass of water for their daily meal. The past few days have been emotional overload. Wanting to help so much, my body decided to shut down. I came down with a stomach virus and have been in bed for almost 24 hours. I am feeling a little better, but do not have enough energy to help as much as I would like. Next week will be a whole new week and we have a lot of work to do!!! Please see the blue team page. I wrote a whole article and it got deleted, but I am going to try again right now. Please keep the families of Panajachel (and my stomach) in your prayers. God Bless!!!!
