I lived in Annapolis, Maryland until the age of 10. I have the best parents, Mike and Claudia. They have been married for 28 years and have been such great role models and support to me and my two brothers (Pete 27 and Jonathan 20). I was the only girl until August 20th when my older brother got married. Now I have a sister! I graduated in 2002 from the University of Central Florida with a Special Education degree. I taught children with behavior disorders for two years.
The life of a Floridian can be quite interesting. I am living proof. Just when I thought I was pretty much settled down…Florida was slammed with four major hurricanes. Through that, God showed me he had other plans for my life. I joined AmeriCorps*VISTA (just like the Peace Corps, but in the US) and moved all the way to Victorville, California. Moving to California was one of the best things that ever happened in my life.
While in California, I worked with foster youth and teenagers that had been expelled from school. We also opened a Boys and Girls Club. It was a very rewarding job. My passion outside of work was being a youth worker for the most amazing Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers at Victor Valley Christian Church. Tuesday and Wednesday nights will never be the same for me.
After the LONGEST ride of my life (3000 miles) I am back in Florida enjoying every minute with my family. I forgot how good home cooked meals were. I just found out that I am going to be an AUNT for the first time. My brother and his wife are expecting a baby! I couldn’t be more excited.
Finding the Adventures In Missions website was an answer to prayer for me. My heart was set on going on a missions trip, I never would have guessed I would be traveling the world. Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” I’m going!
