This morning I woke up thinking I was going to help put a cement floor in the house we built. Much to my surprise we got to the house at 7 am and the cement floor was FINISHED!!! WOW we were so thankful. There was a lot of work to be done elsewhere so Estee and I headed up to San Jorge to help build another house.
When we got there, there was nothing for us to do except to play with the kids and keep them out of the way…of course I LOVED that idea!!! We played GO FISH (the best card game ever) and I painted their nails!! With my LITTLE spanish I was able to ask why the girls did not go to school. Come to find out the family just could not afford to send them to school. Our hearts were broken. Right then, we were trying to figure out how much money we had between the two of us. We had enough…thank GOD!!! I told their mom that we wanted to enroll them in school and pay for it. We also told her we wanted to buy them school supplies and a new outfit. They were SO excited. The mom went and got paperwork from her house and we walked up to the school. It took about a half an hour to enroll these two girls in school. A half an hour and their lives were CHANGED!!! The girls were so happy. We got to meet their teacher and see their classroom. I felt like a proud mother!! All that happened before noon!!

After the girls were enrolled in school, Estee and I hitched a ride up a huge hill and met up with some of the other World Racers and went to an orphanage. This orphanage was so clean and the kids were so CUTE!!! I picked up every single baby in the orphanage and prayed for them. I got to feed one little girl and then play with the big kids for a while. I had one baby fall asleep in my arms and I practiced walking with a toddler. Every single child in that orphanage was precious. It breaks my heart knowing that they do not have parents, but I could not wish for a nicer orphanage!! If Guatemala was our last stop, I would have thought about adopting. Being around 40 babies (a lot of them crying) would make a normal person glad that they do not have children…NOT ME!!! I cannot wait to have crying babies in my house! So much to look forward to!
We only have two more days in Guatemala. I cannot believe that our time here is finished. CHINA HERE WE COME!!!!
