Lights…Camera…Action…

This is definitely the way I felt as I walked into the room filled with over 300 students and teachers. As we walked in, they applauded our entrance onto a stage where we sat in chairs with a long desk in front of us with microphones. …It was a press conference…that is what we were doing; a press conference and all eyes we on us.
Nervous? Yes…I must admit that nervousness did settle in our stomachs, but we committed this time into the Lord’s hands and he took it from there.
The introduction started and Mr. D went around and told where we were from and a “hobby” about each of us. many of our “hobbies” surprised us and we didn’t know we had these hobbies, such as mine. I like to read and write and I am going to be writing a book about what I am doing…Okay…kinda far fetched…but okay.
So the “topic up for discussion” as Mr. D would say was… How to Learn English better. The questioning started and “Mr. Paul” was the first to answer. He told of many different ways, but one being through singing songs in English and remembering them…so what did we do…we taught them songs in English…of course.

Friske wrote the words on the chalk board (since I was too short) and then i got up and taught them the words to the songs and we all sang together. We started with Jesus Loves Me… then moved on to How Great is Our God… and finally we got to play a game with “Halleluah” (I know this is missed spelled…Friske rewrote the words 3 times and constantly misspelled Hallelujah)…
We divided the room into twos and Friske and Laura led one side while Paul and I led the other. Jessica was in charge of this, so she started the song and as we went, we got louder and louder and louder…until finally we had a “winner”…the winner got candy…alot of candy…we just threw it to them. It was alot of fun…I think too much fun because after this we were informed by Mr. D that we could not play anymore games…it was Q and A time.
From there kids took turns standing up asking us questions…tons and tons of questions…from what is the weather like to how old are you to you are very beautiful to what is your favorite sport to I want to know English so well…how can I.

In return…since this was a “press conference” the “panel” (us) took turns answering their questions as best we could. All of the students and teachers we so excited about us being there, telling us that our presence means more than we know.
The fact that we have been invited to this school 3 separate times and have at least 2 more invitations to come back is only the Lord. 99% of this school is Muslim and every time we come in and teach them about our God…sing songs about our God…and they continue to invite us back.
I have never felt like a “movie star” this whole time, but i have to admit as we walked out of the classroom we were bombarded by kids wanting our autographs. it was crazy…they followed us down the stairs where we were signing anything from paper to shirts to books…at the bottom of the stairs all they wanted was pictures…hugs…they kept asking “can i be your friend”.
I tell you this was insane…the way the Lord is leading us and literally drawing people to us in mass crowds is so amazing. To think that He finds me worthy enough to be this example, this light, this influence in something so big continues to amaze me everyday.

“When they prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31
This is my prayer for our team as we enter these schools…we are breaking down that stronghold…tearing down that wall…the move of the Holy Spirit is coming!!!! -Amen

…can you find us in the pool of people… “where is the brown team”… hahaha
