Here we are in
Palenque…it is very nice to feel like you have a time where you can relax and enjoy the creation that God has before us. Many times we are so busy doing our ministry that we take the beauty for granted and don’t stop to enjoy it. We are staying in cabins in the middle of the mountains surrounded by waterfalls. It is gorgeous here.
It is a nice break from waking up to the sound of a rooster,
an advertisement car blaring the loud speaker, or an alarm clock…that’s right, no need to set an alarm clock.
I was sound asleep this morning when a heard a noise that sounded like was coming from the window right by my head, so I lye there trying to figure out what the sound was. Was it some kind of bird making a noise that I didn’t know birds made? Was it a squirrel…I didn’t think
Mexico had squirrels. No…after listening to it for about 10 minutes, I came to the conclusion I knew what it was…it was a Monkey!!! That’s right…now I am being woken up by monkeys. (Mom…kinda brought me back to my first morning I was in SA.)
All of the other teams arrived here today safe and sound. The red team, as you all probably know, has had trouble with their van, but after several days…they did arrive safe and sound.
We are here to all meet together, share about the amazing work the Lord is doing with each team, and encourage ,support, and lift each other up before we all head off and race to Guatemala, where we will start a fresh new month of ministry…so this is really rejuvenation.
Tonight we all were able to hang out with each other and do whatever to enjoy each other’s company. Jessica and I were craving chips, salsa, and queso dip…so after trying to explain this to the waiter (in English…he speaks Spanish) we had chips, salsa, and a bowl of melted cheese. It was so good. A lot of us played cards and actually got kinda violent in playing a game or 2 or 3 or 4 of slaps. I actually have a cut on my finger and other people have cuts from my nails, but despite the pain and agony, we did have a good time.
